Teri Roiger and John Menegon

Teri Roiger and John Menegon’s music has taken many twists and turns over the years. Teri basically is a jazz vocalist, but also plays piano. John is a jazz bassist, but also sings and plays guitar. They both compose music and lyrics, and often collaborate on writing. John played with the two great Texas tenor players for over a ten year period, David Fathead Newman and Dewey Redman. Teri and John both have been teaching Jazz at SUNY New Paltz for the past ten years. The depth of their experiences and love of jazz are apparent when they bring all of their combined experience together in live performance.

"John MENEGON met the demands of the music with a combination of relaxed swing and more outward-looking freedom. His solos were the perfect confluence of rhythmic invention and melodic conception." -- John Kelman, AllAboutJazz-New York"Roiger is in the first rank of jazz vocalists, now and historically. Her vocals always sweet, strong, and on target…Menegon’s bass playing precisely all around the tune, complementing the full tones of her voice. The lines of musical communication between these two are wide open, well traveled…very rich, very full, very moving." -- Daily Freeman

Saturday 9/3 on Wall Street

Peggy Stern & "Sweet" Sue Terry

"When [Peggy and Sue] played at the Mary Lou Williams Women in Jazz Festival [Kennedy Center, DC, May 21st], it was so abundantly clear that these women love what they do….they had a genuinely friendly and joyful affect when they interacted with the audience as if we were all old friends hanging out in her living room. …crisp and precise yet soulful, humble and relaxed. Both she and Peggy cheerfully shared the stories behind their compositions.… All I can say is that both of them were just so COOL. 'Sweet' Sue Terry played the alto saxophone as well as the clarinet on the tunes they performed. I just loved it! Sue’s music was indeed sweet and she and Peggy had a sweet sisterly vibe that was really refreshing and made me smile." -- Jazz Virtuosa

Yamaha Artist 'Sweet' Sue Terry plays alto & soprano saxophones, clarinet, flute, and wood/clay flutes, and has performed and recorded with numerous Jazz VIPs in the US and abroad, including Dr. Billy Taylor, Chaka Khan, Clark Terry, Al Jarreau, Barry Harris, and many more.
